Get your river shoes ready!

We are holding our 8th Row for the Gold canoe race on Sunday, August 12, 2007. The event began in 2000 to benefit  local and state Special Olympics. Teams raise money before racing down a seven mile stretch of the Shenandoah River (canoes are provided). Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams by Special Olympics athletes. There are also great prizes for the winners and the top teams in pledge donations. All race participants will get an event tee shirt.

We are currently signing up teams for this year’s event. If you would like to participate, you can take part in many ways:

  •  You can form a team and raise money through pledges from others or through corporate sponsorship (contact me ASAP so I can get your fundraising packet to you).
  • You can donate prizes to be used for the winning teams.
  • You can donate your time volunteering at the event to help with the race, awards ceremony, or the cookout afterwards.

Together we can make a difference for Special Olympics Virginia!!!
